I'm generally pro-cop and have many friends with multiple years of law enforcement under their belt. When people come out against cops I tend to fall on the benefit of the doubt in favor of the cop almost 100% of the time until the truth comes out.

I can not fathom how anyone can justify this moron walking over to the defense table in the slow motion pace that he took, peer down and pull a piece of paper out of the folder, and then illegally confiscate it to photo copy it.

He should be charged with an actual crime of intimidation, tampering with evidence, or some other criminal act and a jury should convict him so that the allegations of this being a judge playing politics are removed from the equation.

He should be promptly fired, and the jackasses who are standing behind him for snooping into client/attorney privileged work product should pull their heads out of their collective asses. Protecting the sanctity of the court room and its occupants does not give you the right to waive privilege.

With that said, if the defendant is a gang member so be it. We have rules for gathering evidence and warrants. This man exemplifies the reason many people don't trust cops. You don't prosecute someone by violating their rights and obtaining information illegally.

He should be absolutely thrilled that he can get off with an apology as opposed to some serious criminal charges, and his legal defense is doing him a disservice by not recommending that course of action in my opinion.

The judges should bar him from their court rooms in light of the fact that he has proven that he can't be impartial while performing his duties.

I'm guessing, as seen by this ridiculous protest, that the entire MCSO is unable (or unwilling) to understand that what Stoddard did was WRONG—that's the reason he won't be fired. Arpaio and these lawyers are claiming that critics are trying to fight a political war against him? Who was it that crossed the line in that court room? Who violated attorney-client privileges? It wasn't Donahoe. This whole issue reflects so poorly on Arizona.
